The Meade Star Navigator 102 Refractor Telescope will be all you'll ever need to launch you into the exciting hobby of astronomy! As with the other models within the Bresser "Spezial" range there is something, almost naughty, about the pleasure to be had from just holding these binoculars. The feel of the ergonomically designed rubber armouring is as if they are adjusting to become an extension of your hand.

The BAK-4 prisms and fully multi coated glass to air surfaces make this one of the better 20x60's we have had the chance to use. The advantage that the BAK-4 glass and FMC surfaces is that more of the available light gets to your eye instead of being reflected within the binoculars and clouding the image. These cannot be regarded as lightweight however and so are not really suitable for a long country walk. Although the name suggests that they are intended for astronomy we would really only recommend them as a day-time pair of binoculars. However when used with a tripod they do give stunning views of the surface detail on the moon.

These binoculars are in reality a static observation instrument and do not really suit bird-watching whilst the magnification and weight rules our any serious roving use. The rugged build quality make them ideal for scenic viewing or costal observation. The weight also makes them unsuitable for neck wearing for any extended period of time.

The eye relief is just on the edge of being useful to those who wear spectacles but is comfortable for those who don't. If this is a major factor in the decision making process then you would do better to consider sacrificing power over convenience by choosing another model from the range. We recommend a tripod to fully appreciate the power that these binoculars have to offer.
