The smooth rack-and-pinion focus system possesses a slip clutch and focus stop mechanism to prevent over focussing and damage to the objective lens and glass slides. The mechanical stage enables precise location of glass slides via x and y axis controls. A range of 9 magnifications are achievable by means of switching between the three (5x, 10x and 16x power) eyepieces and the three (10x, 40x and an oil immersion 100x power) objective lens'.
